!!!ASTROS CHEATING SCANDAL RESOLVED!!!
The cheating scandal for sign stealing in the 2017 Major League Baseball season that hit the Houston Astros in 2019 has finally been resolved. The Houston Astros were caught stealing signs from opposing teams using electronic equipment. In baseball, this type of behavior is not taken lightly, as each team has their own set of private hand signals/signs they use to tell a batter or pitcher what to do in certain situations. By the Astros engaging in theft of many opposing teams hand signals (signs) they ultimately had an advantage over that team, because they knew what they were going to do via the hand signals they stole. MLB finally investigated this situation early in 2019, and came to a resolution on punishments early this morning.
The head coach, A.J. Hinch, and general manager Jeff Luhnow were both suspended without pay this morning for one year, and the Astros also lose the first and second round draft picks for 2021 and 2022 as punishment. The Houston Astros organization was fined $5 million dollars as well, which is the highest possible fine according to the Major League Baseball Rules Constitution. After these fines and suspensions were imposed on the Astros, the owner of the team, Jim Crane, fired both the head coach and the general manager as a personal punishment within the organization. Major League Baseball is also investigating current Red Sox manager and former assistant coach of the Astros, Alex Cora, for being part of it. In my opinion these sanctions are very fair, and all parties that were involved definitely deserve to be fired and suspended.
